Did The Phone Technician Break My iPhone or Did I? (FLSTOR iPhone 6s battery replacement)

My iPhone 6s has been my daily driver for the better part of a decade. The one I use now, which is featured in this video, has had its battery replaced at least 4 times and the screen replaced at least once. With a healthy battery, and the Operating system updated to ios 15, this smartphone still has years of service ahead of it. I have kept this phone in an Otterbox Defender case which has certainly contributed to the incredible lifespan of this particular advice.

Originally, I wanted to simply demonstrate how quickly you can replace the battery in an iPhones 6s while displaying the competence of the aftermarket battery being installed. The iPhone 6s battery being installed is branded as “FLSTOR” and cost me less than $15.00. With some esperience and the help of a youtube video, I can change out the battery on this iPhone 6s in under 5 minutes. It does help that this phone has been disassembled many times which means the adhesive around the edges of the phone, as well as only using a single strip of reused adhesive under the battery, speeds up the disassembly process because everything comes apart and comes off easily.

This video takes a turn when I go to remove the old battery. Major functions of this phone are lost when removing the failing battery. What I want to know is, who do you think is responsible for the negative outcome? Is the phone technician who previously worked on this phone to blame? Am I solely to blame? Or could you hand out different percentages of liability and faulty to both parties?

Shoutout to @DarthThrifter for providing informative, longform videos to help me wear down the failing battery so I could safely remove it from the phone.

SPOILER: The flex cable ribbon going to the volume buttons was torn during the battery replacement in this video. The reason this happened was a previous phone repair technician replaced the adhesive strips under the previous battery with a single, new strip that was placed on top of the very thin and delicate flex cable ribbon. When I peeled out the old batter, it sheered the ribbon which permanently disabled the volume up and volume down buttons. I can still control the volume using the touch screen and going through different menus.
