So, if you’re wondering what the value of a coin is in the Receipt Hog app, here’s how I broke it down and did the math:
$5 Amazon, Visa, or Paypal = 1,000 coins. (1 coin = $0.005)
$10 Amazon, Visa, or Paypal = 2,900 coins (1 coin = $0.00344828)
$25 Amazon, Visa, or Paypal = 4,300 coins (1 coin = $0.00581395)
$40 Amazon, Visa, or Paypal = 6,500 coins (1 coin = $0.00615385)
Do you notice anything strange in those coin values? If you didn’t notice, the $10 redemption actually decreases your coin value significantly. This is kind of like when you see the larger “value packs” at the grocery store, but they actually cost more per ounce than the smaller portions. The best option is the $40 redemption and the worst option is the $10 redemption. In reality, I think most people won’t be able to wait so long to get the better value at the $25 redemption or the $40 redemption and will do like I do and always cash out at the $5 redemption threshold.
As you are probably aware, Receipt Hog is one of the slowest earning receipt scanning apps on the market. I still use it because they’ve been around for a while, have always allowed me to successfully redeem my coins and hey…..I’ve got my receipts out and my app phone in my hand anyway. I might as well scan my receipts into Receipt Hog as well.
