I did research to find out do bags of tea expire. I had a half-filled box of gallon size iced tea bags but I could not remember how long the box was in the cupboard nor how long the box of tea bags had been open. As a health concern, it was important to know if tea expires. And does tea expire after it’s opened? I wish the bags of Luzianne iced tea were still sealed in plastic, I would have been more confident about brewing and drinking the tea made with these bags. The stamped on “best buy” date, which I think may have also been an expiration date, seemed to reflect the bags of tea were approximately 18 years old. IF they were dry with no signs of moisture, what’s the worst that could happen if I brewed and consumed them? If kept dry, do tea bags really expire? IF there’s no sign of mold, is the biggest concern simply their potency and subsequent taste?
