The Mark Ingram Trade from the Houston Texans BACK to the New Orleans Saints is one of the most interesting trades in years!
While Ingram won’t practice with the Saints until Friday, it doesn’t look like he’ll have to wait too long to slip on the black and gold jersey once again.
While speaking to reporters Thursday after the trade was agreed upon, head coach Sean Payton said there is a “High chance” Ingram plays in Week 8 when the Saints host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Caesars Superdome.
Yesterday, the Houston Texans traded running back Mark Ingram to the New Orleans Saints.
The New Orleans Saints picked up the running back in a midweek trade with the Houston Texans, which puts him in a great position to earn some lucrative contract incentives – while trade terms haven’t yet been announced, Saints coach Sean Payton said Thursday morning that there is “Absolutely, absolutely” a “High chance” Ingram will play in Sunday’s game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Running back Mark Ingram II has been traded to the New Orleans Saints, returning him to where he began his NFL career.
The Saints were expected to be active before the NFL trade deadline next week, and the addition of Ingram fills a huge need.
While the veteran running back won’t be able to match those lofty numbers playing behind Alvin Kamara, Ingram could help him shoulder some of the heavy workload Kamara has provided since the injury to Tony Jones Jr. With Ingram’s familiarity with the Saints’ offensive scheme, he should be able to hit the ground running.
Brandin Cooks doesn’t seem happy about the Texans trading Mark Ingram to the Saints.
“This is bulls-t. Such a joke,” the Houston wide receiver tweeted Wednesday – shortly after the Texans sent Ingram to New Orleans for draft picks.
Ingram, who signed a one-year contract with the Texans in the offseason, is the the team’s leading rusher.
Ingram will reunite with the Saints, the team that selected him in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
The trade will also reunite Ingram with running back Alvin Kamara.
Ingram replied with a smiling emoji and an emoji emulating the Saints logo.
