Cheap Amazon Shower Diverter Valve Review – Does It Actually Work?
BUY: sovrn.co/mswibzd
In this video, I review the cheapest shower diverter valve I could find on Amazon, priced at just $3.17 with free shipping. It’s not shipped directly by Amazon but by a third-party seller, which had me wondering how they’re making any profit at all. This diverter—also known as a water splitter—lets you switch between a regular shower head and a handheld one using a simple toggle labeled A or B. It doesn’t shut off the water completely or control the pressure; it just redirects the flow.
The valve is made of brushed plastic, not metal, so while it won’t rust, there’s a risk it could crack if you overtighten it. It comes with an instruction manual and a couple of rubber gaskets but no pipe sealing tape—you’ll need to supply that yourself. I show how lightweight it is, drop it to test its durability (it survived), and then install it in my own bathroom. I also share a quick plumber’s tip: wrap tape in the direction of the threads for a better seal, and take a minute to clean out any mineral buildup from your shower head while you’re at it.
Even though I had to get creative with the placement of my second shower head due to not having a proper holder, the diverter itself worked just fine. It might be super cheap, but for now, it gets the job done.
