This is the camcorder my father owned back when I was in Middle School/High School. So many memories were recorded with this video recorder.

My review of this RCA CC850 Camcorder asks the question, is a camcorder like this, from the 1990’s, a better option than the modern smartphone or iPhone? I think maybe it does. I mean, my iPhone nor my Android powered smartphone has nowhere near the zooming capabilities as one of these camcorders. The camcorder in the video not only has DIGITAL ZOOM, but it also has 24x OPTICAL ZOOM. I don’t know of any smartphone at any price point that can compare with that single feature.

Also, while the modern smartphone is larger than phones of yesteryear, using it as a weapon would be no where near as effective as moll-whopping a would-be threat with a 10 lb. camcorder.
