Fixing $99 Anker Soundcore ANC Headphones I Got for $12.99 on eBay

I have a favorite seller on eBay whom I think buys bulk electronics returns. Regardless of how he acquires his inventory, he usually has some sweet deals on headphones and earbuds, particularly noice cancelling headphones and earbuds, that sometimes don’t even need any repairing.

These wireless Bluetooth over-the-ear ANC (active noise cancelling) headphones are pretty popular, and for good reason. These are the Anker Soundcore Space One that currently sell new for $99.00. What I bought from eBay for only $12.99 had both of the cups broken off from the headband at the most vulnerable spots, down by the joint.

What makes a repair like this difficult is the small surface area to work with and the fact that, as one would correctly assume, it’s all plastic.

What you’ll see in this video is my second attempt at using UV Resin Epoxy to reattach the cups. This will give me the chance to reinforce the repair with aluminum strips on each side which will be bolted or screwed on.

The reason for using UV RESIN EPOXY is because of its strength and ability to cure in seconds. I’ll have you know this worked and the headphones were durable enough to survive several days of extended use, including mowing the lawn with them on and doing other yard work.
