In this video, I break down one of the most effective plays in Madden 07: the “Cross Under” from the Weak I Twin WR formation. This play is a true money play that can shred both man and zone coverage. The key target is the halfback, who gets open twice — once just after cutting past the tight end and again when turning upfield, depending on how the defense reacts. With the tight end running a crossing route, the slot receiver on a fade, and the wideout running a sluggo post, the defense is forced to cover too much space at once. Timing and quarterback accuracy are critical to hitting receivers in stride and maximizing yards after the catch. If the halfback is locked down, the next read is the wideout on the post route for a big gain. This play is so dominant that I recommend limiting its use to keep games balanced. When run with a speedy back like Reggie Bush, the “Cross Under” becomes nearly unstoppable — a must-know for anyone looking to dominate in Madden 07.
