Yotta says it’s “Banking for Winner.” Maybe that’s a play on words, because if you use enough tickets and swipe you’re Yotta debit card enough, you’re likely to get some return from Yotta. Is that winning? I’m not so sure. Is it fun? Yeah. It can be. But things are changing over at Yotta and not for the better.

This video focuses on what seem like predatory practices by Yotta. They have rolled out two new “games” which to me feel like gambling. And risk was definitely not part of the equation when I starting using Yotta for spending and rewards. Yotta started off innocent enough. Today, they are encouraging their users to gamble away the tickets which used to only bring positive returns to members of the spending platform.
The two games are a coin flipping game called Double Down, where you wager your tickets in an attempt to double them. It surely may seem like a safe, 50/50 shot at doubling your tickets, but is that what you signed up for when you joined Yotta? And while you may think you can easily just break even when waging on something like a coin flip, a tudy like the one below will show you that’s simply not reality.

The second and newest gambling game offered to Yotta users is called Moonshot. This is the offering that really makes me sad. This game is beyond addictive. And while I’ve never played Moonshot, I have played Bustabit. They’re the same game. The wager in Bustabit is bitcoin. The wager in Moonshot are your tickets from actions involving your Yotta account. It is SO EASY to lose everything you have to wager in that game.
What happens when you gamble away all your tickets in your Yotta account? Are you mad at the company? Are you mad at yourself? Or do you go on a manic gambling bender and do whatever it takes to get more tickets so you can keep gambling on Yotta? And most importantly, what does Yotta want you to do. Once you find that out, ask why.
