So here’s the story. I’m at Blockbuster renting some movies. Actually, I was renting a Grey’s Anatomy disc, season 2 disc 3 I believe. Yes, my girlfriend got me a bit hooked on Grey’s. Okay, so I’m in line waiting to pay for my rental when a little display case with (4) different interactive dvd games catches my eye.
I can’t remember what the other three games were, but I do know that the Press Your Luck Interactive Dvd Game looked good. I bought it. I was so excited. I called my girlfriend before I went to her place and talked her I had a “bag of fun”.
I have experience with interactive dvd games. I have played many of them over the years. They have bit hit and miss. My favorite, which is a mix of board game and dvd game, is Scene It. That game rocks. It works well and it’s fun. Press Your Luck interactive dvd game DOES NOT work well and it IS NOT fun! I always liked watching the Press Your Luck game show reruns. That show was awesome. Press Your Luck even tried to make a comeback in 2001, calling the show Whammy, the name of the game show’s animated character.
I can’t believe this dvd missed like this. I know I’ll look like a retard going to blockbuster asking for my money back. I’m sure there is some type of non return policy on open games, software, and dvds. I’m going to be calling the distributer or manufacturer if I can find their contact informatin and see if I can get a refund that way. This game is really that bad.
Let’s play Q and A with myself.
Is the Press Your Luck Dvd Game Fun?
No. This game is not fun. It could be fun, but it’s not.
Why isn’t this game fun?
Because it’s trying to do too much for a dvd game. Check out this little list of why this game sucks.
- The game runs sooo slowly. It goes slowly because it tries to do too damn much. A dvd player is not a game console. The Press Your Luck Dvd game show interactive dvd game tries to keep score, track spins, etc. This does not work well at all for this type of format.
- The host is annoying. His little cut scenes are not funny and only contribute to the game going even more slowly.
- The most fun part of Press Your Luck, where you use your turns to stop on prizes and money and avoiding the Whammy is predetermined. The player has absolutely no control over where it lands. All there is, is a waiting screen until you press enter on your dvd remote controller. It’s so obvious and such a disappointment.
Please don’t buy this game. You may see it like I did and feel tempted. Don’t do it. I’m going to try and get in touch with Imagination, the company that made this game, and see if I can get my money back.
