Off The Rails 3D Review – #1 Free Game in iOS App Store

Currently #1 in the iOS app store for games, my Off The Rails 3D review should help you decide whether or not you should download this little train game.

The game is simple and only requires one finger to play. You control the speed of a train. Your finer basically turns it on and off. You won’t need a Off The Rails hack to defeat most levels in this game. To pass a stage, you must reach the finish line without running out of fuel. When you press the screen, you tell the train to use fuel to make it up inclines. When your train is descending, you need to take your finger off the screen to conserve fuel and allow momentum and gravity help you win!

In Off The Rails 3D, you collect virtual money when you pass a level. You then are encouraged to spend that “money” on upgrades for your train. You’ll find it nearly impossible to progress without spending on these upgrades so spend your money and spend it wisely.

While Off The Rails 3D is free, this does come at a cost. After every level, or each fail at a level, you’ll be bombarded with advertisements. In fact, it’s been reported that you must have an internet connection to even play this game.
You can find that thread on Reddit here: www.reddit.com/r/assholedesign/comments/e8we5m/off_the_rails_3d_doesnt_work_without_connection/
The reason for that is so they can serve up ads. You can remove the ads for $2.99. This is the only in-game purchase available.

As you’ll see in the video, the ads are obnoxious. I wish developers would try to make an even trade with players. Let us enjoy the game for a reasonable amount of time, then show us an ad. With this free game, and many like it, you’ll spend more time with advertisements and unskippable videos than you will actually playing the game.

If you have a high tolerance for advertising, this game could be for you. It is fun and I do think it would make a nice little time waster. Unfortunately for me, I was so turned off by the avalanche of advertising, I quickly uninstalled the game.

Should you choose to install the game, it won’t take up much storage space on your device. The size on iOS is only 165.4 MB. The size on your Android device is only 81 MB.

If you’re any good at this game, it won’t take you long to get to the final level. You’ll get there a lot faster if you fork over the $2.99 to have the ad-free experience. I see people within an hour start searching for gameplay footage of off the rails 3d level 50.

If you’ve played this game, I’d love to know if you think it’s deserving of the #1 spot in the games category in the iOS app store.
