Blue Runner Red Beans Review with video
Making Authentic New Orleans Style Red Beans And Rice Can Take Forever, Seriously. There’s a reason why a bowl of real New Orleans red beans taste so darn good: chance are, whoever made those delicious red beans spent a lot of time and preparation making them. The quick solution for a delicious pot of red beans is to use a can or two or three of Blue Runner Red Beans. A lot of people here in New Orleans buy cans of this stuff, and for good reason, these beans taste great.

Have you ever tried to make red beans and rice from scratch? If you have, you’ll probably appreciate a quick substitution to the painstaking, long process preparing red beans the New Orleans way. In a nutshell, preparing red beans the N.O.L.A. way goes something like this:
Yup, red beans are kidney beans. And yes, the first, exciting step when making red beans and rice is to soak the beans for like half a day. Fun, right?
It’s believed that if you rinse the beans off that have been soaking and use fresh water for the boiling process, the fart factor for the people eating the beans will be significantly reduced.
This “coming together” process takes hours. If you were craving red beans when you started preparing them, you’ve probably decided to eat something else.
And remember, this is just to get the red beans right. This is before all the seasonings and meat additions like adding perfectly seasoned sausage to really make your red beans and rice stand out.
Here are several good red beans and rice recipe. Here’s a good red beans recipe.
Now, here’s my own super quick red beans and rice recipe using Red Runner Red Beans.
I like to just shake the can into the pot. Whatever doesn’t fall out after a few seconds gets eaten with a spoon, cold, right out of the can. This helps to hold me over while I’m waiting for everything to be ready.
This should take all of a few mintes. Even if you use regular rice, you’re only looking at about 20 minutes to get the rice ready.
Nothing goes better with some read beans than some buttered white bread. Wanna really do it New Orleans style? How about using Bunny bread?
I like to get silly with my red beans. I enjoy adding the following (not all at the same time though): jalapeño peppers, black pepper, jalapeño pepper juice, Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning, salt, onion powder, louisiana hot sauce, crystal hot sauce.
