  What’s the return policy on those speakers? Can you swap them out since the volume knob is messed up? Don’t you hate when volume knobs mess up? Why does that always happen? Is it dust? Try taking a can of air to it. I think I remember that helping me with something similar one time.

  It’s been like that since I bought it. I got it from Circuit City before they went under. This particular unit was a display model and quite cheap. I got it for about $20/$30 when the retail was in the $80/$100 range.

  Just did a search on amazon and I’m seeing the problem I am experiencing is quite common, so that sucks. The good thing is that it sounds great if I leave it in max volume setting and use PC to control actual volume. The bass can go quite deep without distortion, and I don’t go anywhere near the bass capabilities except when I’m really in a bumping mood.
