The front of a powerade bottle reads the following: “Liquid Hydration + Energy Drink”. I don’t even know where to start after noticing that. It’s mostly water, then sugar, then a touch of sodium, potassium, b vitamins, and niacin. Where’s the “energy”? Is it the 15 grams of sugar in each 8 ounce serving or the tiny amounts of vitamins B6 and B12?
Let’s talk about if it’s refreshing or not. To be honest, when I drink a Powerade, I find that it makes me a little bit more thirsty. When you’re parched, anything liquid will be a bit of relief but overall, I think I would be happier with a big glass of ice cold water. That’s just me.
Pro athletes can be seen downing cup after cup of drinks like this. I don’t know if it is actually Powerade in those cups or water. I’ve played sports before and found that water always did the trick for me. Powerade has a lot of sugar in it which makes it kinda not healthy for you. Sugar is bad. The sugar in a powerade, along with the food coloring, makes it sticky and it stains your lips, teeth, and tongue.
What would you rather, a Powerade or a glass of ice water? Leave a comment because I’m curious about this. Anyways, enjoy the video review.
Oh, here’s a good article questioning the health factor and effectiveness of “Sports Drinks”.
